window shopping

Some pictures of Fredericksburg Va. in the historical old towne.  I like visiting here at Christmas, festively dressed windows to see and  good places to eat.
There was a beautiful Nativity painted on one of the store windows ,  a reminder of  the real reason for the season.

pretty woodland Santa

I totally want that sign

Mom used to always hang some kind of bell ornament at Christmas, the one above the door here reminded me of that.

I noticed the swags on the windows pointed up instead of straight across or dipping down.  I like the look of these.

All of the street lamps had a bow

All of the windows are dressed and I especially like this one with the dog under the chair

On the way back to our car we noticed the church steeple behind one of the shops.  I gave pause,  setting sunlight bouncing off  a few clouds behind it,  peaceful.

Wishing everyone a Safe and Happy New Year

Mom

Mom visited with us on the 28th of Christmas.   Had dinner and opened gifts .   She had a good time and probably had way to much ham,  she loved it.
Here are a few pics of that day.
Seth (oldest grand) holding Genevieve,  Mom ,  daughter Annette
Mom at 93 -  looks and does very well, she gets around better than most and doesn't have the bad knee like I do.
Derek holding Genevieve, Adalyn,  Mom and Seth
Miranda had to  work so we didn't get her picture,  but we see her in her sweet children.
Mom wanted to be in front of the Christmas tree
Love the smile she has here
Lil Adalyn is tired of pictures for sure
A few pieces are not on the village scene and I am sure I will find where Genevieve hid them.
You can see she got a hold of the snow too.    She knows how to have fun.

Christmas Day

Grand children arrive at our  house to open their gifts and have  dinner.    It was to quiet and we looked forward to them arriving.   I like paper torn from the packages scattered on the floor with laughter,  they had fun and made our Christmas Day.

Mom always dresses them so cute

Nope, not gonna get my picture

Nutcracker has lost his head several times and Genevieve loves to pick him up first thing,  I think it's funny

Opa and Genevieve
One of two Santa s that sit on the steps

Moving on

There must be something else I can get into that is off limits

Adalyn picked out for me a pretty Santa ornament and was so happy to give it to me.
She knows I love Santa s and this one has fur,  love it!
She painted the pretty ball above for Opa,
Same ornament but with flash

Genevieve is much more interested in the spinning ornaments on the tree

Miranda's Mom made us this beautiful rug made of knots ,  so soft and will be sitting beside my bed.
So very pretty, I love it.
dining room
My Aunt made these Santa napkin rings many years ago ,  nice to have a something that she crafted and a sweet memory of her.

real birds nest that was given to me by a co worker about 12 years ago, it's sitting on some dried branches I pulled from a bush in the yard.

Christmas Morning

Christmas morning  pictures  and a short video

First picture - my homemade rolls just out of the oven - turned out really well for me and tasted great.

the above Madonna and child picture is one I made from copies of several to give a more  3 d look.
I added glitter and trim

Above is a church I made years ago out of a milk carton and I printed onto some film a stained glass print,  when I put a light in it ,  the stained glass shows well.

A Christmas tree my son gave me several years back .  Plays music and the heat from the candles make the shiny metal tree spin

I didn't put out all of my village this year but like what is on display in the spare bedroom

Next is
a  short video of my tree on a Sunny Christmas Morning

tree going up

Weather is good so I am trying to get the outside done as much as possible today .
Also getting the tree up is becoming a challange.   Next year for sure,  NO more placing plastic bins of Christmas decor in attic,  getting way to hard to crawl around up there.

So Far ---

I am leaving quite a few limbs out of ths tree for a different feel or look.    It's an old tree about 20 yrs. that I got from my sister.    Yes,  I still build it.    I guess I need to get a pop up tree soon.

Lights on as I go up  ------- i't slike a real tree with the way the needles drop

Here is where I'm at - back to work to finishing the placing of ornaments
