After Christmas visit

I took Adalyn and Genevieve to visit Aunt Wanda and see Natalie who is two years old and are third cousins.
The house was still decorated , I got a few shots.

I really love these singing penguins someone made - I just think they are so cute, especially the accordion player

I wish my picture was not so blurry of Natalie, beautiful red hair and blue eyes

Jefferson Hotel Christmas 2015 New Years

Steve and I visit the Hotel Jefferson every year at Christmas.
A mood setter for sure.

Beautiful frosty lit fountain with alligator escaping to greet at entrance.

As I posted in earlier posts of our visit to the Jefferson,  the story of the alligators'.
Richmond's and hotel guests donated pet alligator's to the hotel where they lived in the Palm courts marble pools.  The last of the gators "Old Pompey"  in 1948,  died.

A glance  up before venturing in

The Jefferson was elected in 1969 to the National Register of  Historic places
and it's beaux arts style architecture is considered to be among the finest examples in existence

A close up of "Old Pompey".   He lies at the foot of the arbor with wrought iron Victorian bench surrounded by festive Christmas decor.

You can see him in the distance next to the arbor

Edward V Valentine,  a Richmond sculptor created the life-size image from Carrera marble.
Clothing actually worn by Jefferson was borrowed by Valentine in which he copied for the sculpture.
2 years and $12,000 later it was complete.
